SAMT Meeting Minutes: Monday, February 14, 2011
Meeting called to order 4:00 pm.

President’s report

Vice President’s report: Katie
- How many people have seen the website?
- Suggestions: Discussion Board; Register Interns (Blogs Log in on website); post pictures of last year’s Music Therapy Awareness Week, Put up links to music therapy movie trailer (Kristen); Post links to Denton Bell Band (Sara); Links to Music Works provide free programs (Jessica); Consensus: website is amazing.
- Robert has the card for Mr. Joe. Find him and sign it or Anastasia will have it.
- We voted for Brandy Jenkins for silent membership. Vote passed.
Treasurer: Anastasia
- Points: The person with the most points will get a prize. The 3 people with the highest points will get dinner w/ Anastasia. If you come to meetings you will get 5 points. Fundraisers or volunteer work will be worth 10 points. Every activity for Music Therapy Awareness Week will be worth 15 points. Conference will be worth 20 points.
- The Chili’s Fundraiser is February 24th. Go and get 10 points, and we will get 10% of anything you purchase if you mention SAMT.
- Other fundraisers will be coming soon.
Music Therapy Awareness Week: Katie
- Planning session will be 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm in room 203. Please come if you want to help, I can’t do it on my own.
How many are coming to conference?
- There are cheaper rooms, and find roommates. SAMT can help facilitate roommates and carpools.
- There will be sign-up sheets on the music therapy board for people who want to drive.
We voted to do a Teddy Bear Drive. Stephanie motioned, Audrey seconded, and vote passed. Boxes will be placed on floors of the music building and possibly the student union. Donate Teddy Bears and or clothing in the boxes for Friends of the Family center for families in crisis.
There will be a Friends of the Family fundraiser April 2nd. Contact Allison Burns to volunteer.

What is Music Therapy?
According to the American Music Therapy Association, “music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.”
