SAMT Meeting Minutes: Monday, February 28, 2011

Meeting called to order at 4:02 pm.

Christina and Anastasia led warm-ups.

President

-       Bryant showed the trailer for “The Music Never Stopped.”  Everyone should go to www.themusicneverstopped-movie.com and request the movie to come to Denton.  There is a link to this website at www.twusamt.org.

-       There are three different t-shirt designs to choose from.  One is specific for TWU SAMT, and the other two are for Music Therapy in general.  We will sell them as fundraisers during conference and Music Therapy Awareness Week.  The Rorschach design will also be printed on a tote bag.  If you would like to order any of these items, please turn in your money and order form by Monday to one of the officers.  This way a big order can be placed before spring break.  Checks should be made out to SAMT.

-       Bracelets and bumper stickers that say “Peace, Love, and Music Therapy” will also be ordered for fundraisers.

-       If you are not registered for conference and would like to be, you can do so at www.swamta.com.  Make sure to save your receipts for conference and hotel in order to be reimbursed.  If you are driving to conference and are willing to give someone a ride, or if you need a ride, there are sign-up sheets on the SAMT bulletin board.

-       The Denton Redbud Festival will be Saturday, April 9^th.  SAMT usually volunteers for this, so keep it on your calendar.

-       Bryant needs help redecorating the SAMT bulletin board.  Contact him if you would like to volunteer.

Vice President

-       A Tentative schedule has already been set for Music Therapy Awareness Week, and everything will be set in stone soon.  Katie sent around a sign-up sheet for each day of the week.  Sign up for what you can help out with.  Volunteers are needed to help with sidewalk chalk and advertising the week before.  Contact Katie if you can help.

Treasurer

-       Dues are due today if you have not paid.

-       I-HOP does a 20% fundraiser.  Anastasia is meeting with the manager on Wednesday and will send out an email with more information.  A new pizza place has taken Hot Box’s old spot.  Anastasia will attempt to set something up with them.  There will probably be one more fundraiser at Pizza Inn the week before Awareness Week.  There is also an opportunity to have custom SAMT jewelry made to sell at conference and Awareness Week.

-       Allison suggested making guitar pick jewelry.  She will buy supplies this week and host a social night to make the jewelry.

-       Anastasia read off a report of how many points everyone has earned.  If you have been going to events but haven’t paid dues, you are not earning points.

Secretary

-       If you are not receiving minutes or other SAMT emails, let Priscilla know or send an email to twusamt@gmail.com.

Parliamentarian

-       Sarah Folkening, Chelsi Williamson, and Hyejin Gong submitted petitions for silent membership.  Janice motioned to allow them to become silent members, Stephanie seconded, and the vote passed.

-       Robert will be working on planning a group SAMT trip to Six Flags.  For a group of ten or more the ticket price is $29.99.  Anastasia said that if it is close to the end of the school year, SAMT will be able to cover a lot of the cost.

Web Master

-       Jessica added a discussion board to the website.

Christine motioned to the close meeting, Stephanie seconded, and the vote passed.
