Members of the Texas Woman’s University Student Association for Music Therapy engage in educational and promotional activities in the field of music therapy.
TWU SAMT members also provide service to the community
and participate in national conventions.
We meet every other Monday, from 4-4:30 pm in room 203 of the music building.
In Spring 2011 the Student Association for Music Therapy will host Music Therapy Awareness Week. This event reaches out the general community in Denton as well as the student body at Texas Woman’s University. Past events included a community drum circle on the square, informational sessions, and demonstrations of music therapy.
Many members of SAMT will represent the organization at the annual Southwest American Music Therapy Association (SWAMTA) Conference in Waco, TX.

What is Music Therapy?
According to the American Music Therapy Association, “music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.”
