Join SAMT!
We meet every other Monday, from 4-4:30 pm in room 203 of the music building @ TWU.
Who can join SAMT?
Students at Texas Woman’s University can join the Student Association for Music Therapy.
Members are not required to be music majors or music therapy students.
Why join SAMT?
SAMT provides educational and social opportunities for students to develop music therapy skills and friendships outside of the traditional classroom setting. If you would like to join SAMT, please attend one of our meetings or contact an officer for more information.
Points
Members who participate in SAMT events may be eligible for special prizes at the end of each semester.
Community Participation
We hold many events each year that are open to the community. Community events include a family-friendly drum circle in the square in downtown Texas.
Dues
Membership dues are $10 a semester. Alternate rates may apply for a yearlong membership. Silent members may apply by submitting a letter to the officers. Prospective or renewing members can pay dues in check or cash. Please make checks out to Student Association for Music Therapy.

Members of the Student Association for Music Therapy engage in educational and promotional activities in the field of music therapy. Members also provide service to the community and participate in regional and national conventions.
What is Music Therapy?
According to the American Music Therapy Association, “music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.”
